Trans (Transender) Awareness & Equality Courses & Workshops

Unique Committee  members regularly take part in various activities to facilitate understanding of trans issues and improve relations between the transgender population and the rest of society.

Unique has the necessary knowledge of the subject and wide experience of the transgender community to offer expert training on trans related diversity awareness and equality.  Committee members also consult with a number of organisations on these matters, including local councils, universities, Welsh Health Boards, the police, the Welsh Government, and the UK Parliamentary Forum on gender identity.

TRAINING TAILORED TO YOUR ORGANISATION

If you require Trans Awareness & Equality Training, we can build a training session according to your organisations specific needs.  Our training, provided by experienced and knowledgeable Trans people is tailored to your organisations specific needs.  We have provided more than 800 courses and workshops to a very diverse range of organisations (150+) from the public, private and third sectors.

Courses are constructed to appeal to all levels of staff and are designed to inform and increase confidence and respect in interacting with all Trans and gender variant people.  Attendees are introduced to key topics, explaining Trans peoples identities, communities and lives.  The sessions provide best practice guidance and legal information through audio/visual presentations, workshops, group activities or presentation of real-life scenarios and exercises appropriate to the organisation being trained.  Attendees  are encouraged to ask questions.  Courses can be half or full day sessions, but we feel that at least a two hour session is needed to provide a basic understanding of the topic and the diversity of the Trans community.

We do not charge for the Diversity & Equality Training that we provide, but we do ask that reasonable expenses (travel costs, etc.) are paid for those delivering the workshops.  We also usually suggest a discretionary donation to Unique Transgender Network to help maintain the services that the group provides.  This is generally in the range of £100 - £500, depending upon the length and number of workshops delivered.

Feedback shows that participants leave our training courses far better equipped to engage with Trans people respectfully, appropriately and confidently, and better able to understand their needs in supplying services and support.
